MY PROCESS

THE BRIEF

A great design project is nothing without a good foundation. What are your company goals, your audience, the colors you like?

RESEARCH

Knowing your clients, the competition, design styles that are current, as well as timeless are key to creating good design.

THUMBNAILS

I prefer to spend quite a bit of time on thumbnails. This is the most fun and creative part of a project. Post-it notes are my friend for this stage.

ROUGHS

Roughs are the best way to really get a feel for your design after thumbnails. I work out issues and flaws before moving to final stages.

SKILL SET

THE USE OF MULTIPLE APPLICATIONS TOGETHER IN HARMONY MAKES FOR STUNNING DESIGN

I prefer to use multiple programs when working on a project.  Every program has it’s strengths and weaknesses.  I prefer to work with efficiency when it comes to designing, thus is the reason I like to use multiple programs on a project.  This opens up more time for the creative process.  Designers who only stick to one or two programs are limiting their options and can cause lackluster designs or wasted time that the client should not have to pay for.  I use all of the programs below to design.  The Adobe Creative Suite, Corel Draw, Autodesk Maya & Mudbox, Microsoft products, and WordPress are just a few of the tools I use to craft creative designs.

ABOUT

I BELIEVE DESIGN SHOULD NOT ONLY BE FUN TO CREATE BUT ALSO FUNCTIONAL

I have always appreciated art and have enjoyed drawing since I was a child.  I grew up in a family full of artists and decided to follow suit.  What started as a love for cartoons, animation, and illustration turned into a love for graphic design as well.  Through the years I have honed my skills not just in practice, but in application as well.

I grew up on an island in the southeastern part of the United States and have lived in Seattle with my husband almost my entire adult life.  I am still a fan of animation and cartoons, tend to be a joker and still feel as though I am child at heart.  I am a friendly, fun, outgoing person who tends to live life as a free spirit. I am a strong advocate for environmental responsibility, freedom, equality for everyone, and social justice.  All of my designs reflect these qualities as well as the clients I tend to work for.

I have worked for almost a decade in the sign / print and graphic design industry and have a wide variety of diverse skills.  My background as well as my education allows me to bring knowledge of both design and its applied application to a project. I have extensive knowledge in both print and layout for a wide range of mediums including digital wide format printing, offset printing, high speed inkjet printing, and even thermal printing.  I also have experience working with both raster and vector based graphics.  Whether it is a photo touch up, creative branding campaign, style guides or just some logos.  I can help with any needs you may have.

There are also a few unique skills that I have acquired such as 3D design.  I have worked in both Maya and Adobe Dimensions to create one of a kind designs.  While like most designers I often start in a vector based program for my base designs, I can deliver a finished product that is more than just a flat image.

My work with signage, print and page layout over the years has given me a firm understanding of the process involved all the way from design, to fabrication, to the final product. Over the years I have created numerous printed pieces, promotional materials, trade show displays, signage, vinyl graphics, banners, POP displays, the occasional packaging etc.  I have worked in management positions, work well with people, can multi-task, solve complex problems, and plan / coordinate clients, vendors, and project schedules.
